|Play in the Park was created after a series of murders and violent attacks in the Kennedy Heights and Pleasant Ridge areas. Many people began to worry about spending time in the park, in an area where parks had previously been a point of pride. Susan brought an idea to the Kennedy Heights Community Council meeting to tackle the problem. She suggested having neighbors, police, community partners and city leaders to work together to create opportunities for individuals and families to play together in the park and reclaim the space as a safe haven of community.
Since that first summer six years ago, Play in the Park has grown exponentially. The event gained city-wide recognition when the Cincinnati Police Department and Cincinnati Parks received the prestigious 2014 Seasongood Foundation Innovation Award for making a difference in the lives of our community.
What was first an informal gathering now has live music, arts experiences, opera, and food. Join us in 2020 for another summer of friends, fun, and festivities!
